Professor at the Institute of Economics and International Relations
Federal University of Uberlândia, Brazil
Associate Professor at the Institute of Economics and International Relations (IERI) at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) since 2009.
My academic career at UFU includes coordinating the Graduate Program in International Relations (2017-2019) and, currently, coordinating the Research Center for Peace, International Security, and Strategic Studies (NUPSIEE-UFU). I am responsible for teaching courses in International Relations Theory and Peace Studies, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels in International Relations.
I hold a degree in International Relations from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (2001-2004), with a Master’s (2006-2008) and Doctorate (2008-2012) in Political Science from the University of São Paulo (USP).
I complemented my education with two important postdoctoral fellowships:
My research focuses on International Security and Peace Studies, with a particular focus on civil wars, political violence, and peacebuilding. Additionally, I am interested in International Relations Theory and Political Theory, with an emphasis on post-structuralist and post-colonial approaches.
The results of my research have been published in prestigious journals in Political Science and International Relations, such as the Journal of Intervention and Statebuilding, Revista Brasileira de Política Internacional, Brazilian Political Science Review, and Revista Brasileira de Ciências Sociais, among others. My projects have been supported by funding agencies such as CAPES, CNPq, FAPEMIG, FAU-UFU, and the Fulbright Commission.
My work outside UFU includes participation as a reviewer and member of the editorial board of national and international scientific journals. I was a consultant for CAPES, coordinated an extension project funded by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security dedicated to improving Brazil’s refugee system, and am a member of the Global South Unit for Mediation (GSUM-PUC/Rio). In addition, I have served as an instructor in courses on international conflict mediation for the United Nations (UN) and the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
